iPropWiz 6 / The $ folder in configuration
« Last post by tahdesign on July 27, 2017, 05:53:46 AM »
I recently upgraded from 2014 to 2017 and everything seems to be working well.

However, we will start replacing all of the workstations as their leases are up.

I have a cheat sheet I go by when rebuilding or new building workstations from the software standpoint.

I have some instructions on this sheet that I wrote years ago that I do not remember why.

It says "put $ folder in iProp"

I house my iProp configuration folder within my IV Templates and Styles folder which is Vaulted (see attached).

I believe I had to make the $ folder because I could not push and pull this from the Vault but I can not remember what this was for.

Licensing / LOCKED OUT
« Last post by rprice@pointeightpower on May 18, 2017, 07:00:53 AM »
Is any one having problems getting support? Neil has not answered my email's - He might have me blocked for all I know?
I have 8 seats and 2 users are locked out because I could not get to the PC to deactivate the license.
How difficult is it to switch from fixed to floating license?

Neil thanks for the response.  That didn't work.
But what I did do was uninstall IPW completely.  Then deleted the entire folder you referenced:   C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor Addins\C-Cubed (Note we only use IPW6).

Reinstalled IPW and good to go.

Thanks!

OK well moving forward I will just plan to make a line item in my upgrade procedure to check on this on each workstation.
I assume that once unblocked and set to auto-load that will hold for everyone that logs into that workstation (we are a CAD Lab environment).

Since it seems to work without a reinstall I think I will leave it alone and just make sure it is loading in 2017.

Inventor add-ins load via registry the .addin file that is located in the same folder as the add-in.

You could copy the file from a good machine to the problem one as a first try.

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor Addins\C-Cubed\iPropWiz 6\iPropWiz6.Inventor.addin

I will work on a solution to avoid the blocking problem. It seems hit or miss as to whether you get a dialog (Autodesk) that enables you to approve the add-in for use after installation.

If it works I would leave it as is.

Had a PC that was in the iPropWiz 6 when the power went out and now when restart PC, or Inventor, the iPW doesn't load automatically.  It shows up in the Add In Manager and we can click load and load automatically, but when we restart IV, still not loaded.

If I run IV as Admin IPW loads automatically.  Assume a file in the Users profile is corrupt and needs deleted.  Can you point me in the direction of which file?  I did a repair install on the IPW.

Thanks!

Well it appears that for some reason it was being blocked (see attached)???

Unblocked and now it shows up. So I'm wondering if that will have to be looked at with each station when I upgrade?

So a question on upgrading, my typically method is to clean the clock on all cad related software and reinstall. Remove all add-ins then iv/vault. delete autodesk key from reg. rebuild.
So since iPropWiz is finding the new version when it is installed should I just leave it alone?

I had the latest installed (6.1.1.167) when I installed 2017 and it did not show up.

No problem. Just install IV 2017. As long as you have a recent enough update of iPropWiz 6 it should show up in IV 2017.
